The Kink Store has made a new anal hook variant that is a great option for anal BDSM play for all experience levels.
The classic short style anal hook along with several other variants have been around for quite some time so new developments tend to come down to the finer details and I think The Kink Store did a great job with their Devil's Hook line. Many options will also come down to preferences, so as a starting point I like how the smaller hooks wrap around the tailbone area and flow to the body shape well. The original versions have a simple rounded insertable tip, however still on the subject of details I've come across ones with flat tips as a great lesson on how easily some designs with lack of quality control can go wrong.
Simple rounded tips are still a great option for those worried about enduring any sort of anal plug size, but with no shape change they are very prone to falling out. To combat this, many designs have been made with larger sphere ends, which do certainly help retention, yet then are more difficult to insert and sometimes they are screwed on thus require more cleaning effort and general maintenance.
Now enter the Devil's Hook, it finds a great balance between these design considerations by having a classic anal plug heart-shaped style tip with a nicely ramped shape transition for both easier cleaning and wearing comfort. Coming in three sizes where the max diameter of the tip is: 1inch, 1.25inch, or 1.5inch, this allows people to really dial in the fit they are looking for.
Keeping up with classic anal hook expectations, the Devil's Hooks come in solid stainless steel which is great for cleanability and bonus weight which most people prefer. The polished finish looks great and assists cleaning as well. For bonus design notes, Peter Acworth of Kink.com spearheaded the design including testing and revisions to offer the current versions available, which I appreciate knowing it was designed by someone who had both experience and clearly the desire to use the end result. This is in contrast to other designs where they just look like copies of copies and one can tell they have barely even any understanding how the product will be used.
If intrigued, but unfamiliar what in the world someone may want to do with an anal hook, some examples of play include:
- Connecting the hook to another body point such as collar, harness, belt, hair, etc to create a sexy combination of posture and predicament play
- Connecting the hook to a high point to force the wearer to be on their toes
- Since steel, one can relatively easily make the hook cold or warm for sensation play
- Vibrating the connection or hook directly can make for an interesting anal vibe tease
- Have the wearer on all fours and one can use rope or chain connected to the hook to route through a collar or harness point to make for an enhanced collar and leash experience
On the note of play, we tried to include some picture examples as that seems rare these days on reviews. I thought it was a great time to show off our DSG Tension straps can work well in anal hook setup where it can allow for tension to keep the hook in, but also allows for some stretch when changing body positions. I also did some quick prototypes for simple buckle / strap connections that can be a handy option compared to something like rope. And since not a common item, a collar with a D-ring connection on both the front and back was made to show off being able to connect a Devil's Hook and a leash at the same time.
If the Devil's Hook doesn't look like the perfect fit for your needs, notably The Kink Store also carries a good selection of other anal hook types such as the longer styles and alternate lash points which can be an important consideration.
